August TRD – Australia 2024

August TRD was born in Gianyar, Bali. As an artist, he began his journey in the tattoo scene with a new-traditional style back in 2017. He is also a talented muralist, and he likes to play with clay to create unconventional Balinese masks. August TRD aims to express his unique perspective as a Balinese man, father, and son, while also voicing his opinions about street gossip and his commitment to preserving his culture. He pours his love into every single artwork he creates. Through his art, he immersed us in August TRD’s imaginative world, candidly sharing his everyday moments. Like many other keen artists, he kept growing and exploring his artistic spirit. He has a signature style of art drawing: whimsical strokes, colorful tones, and joyful face expressions on every drawing character.

The artist’s motivation for traveling to Perth, Australia, is a desire to reintroduce Balinese art and ignite it with his imaginative world in vibrant colors. He is no stranger to the Kangaroo land; this is his third visit, and Perth, with its unique blend of modernity and sustainable living, has truly inspired him. His “Demen-Demen” mini-exhibition, which derives its name directly from the Balinese verb “to enjoy or to approve,” has a special meaning for him. He also enjoys hearing it spoken by his international friends. He dedicates this mini exhibition to his beloved wife, son, family, and friends with heartfelt gratitude. Definitely, his artwork portrays a humble and playful vibe.

He claims that he found joy in the simplest of places: “Whether you’re in Perth or in Bali, it’s all about how we respond and adapt to our surroundings. It’s really that simple,” says August TRD. He absolutely loves the ecosystem in Perth. According to him, “It’s so delightful to see birds flying freely around the city.” This trip to Perth will be a cherished memory for him, something he can share with his children in the future. He will preserve it as a part of his archive collection for future generations.
